Review is aimed at detailed study of the crystal structure of barium titanate BaTiO$_{3}$ with displacement-type structure. In such a structure, there are several interesting physical phenomena, the study of which is one of the most topical problems of contemporary condensed matter physics, namely, ferroelectricity, pyroelectric effect, piezoelectricity, structural phase transitions. The results of studies of the temperature and pressure dependences of the crystal parameters and features of phase transitions in BaTiO$_{3}$ are presented.
Keywords: barium titanate, ferroelectricity, pyroelectric effect, piezoelectricity, structural phase transitions.
