Macroscopic patterns of localized plastic flow are investigated in f.c.c., b.c.c. and h.c.p. metals and alloys. As shown, the plastic deformation is developed as localized one during all stages of the plastic flow. The type of observed patterns of localization is governed by the work-hardening law acting at the corresponding stage of a process. As shown, the macrolocalized plastic-flow patterns are of autowave behaviour. The evolution of localization pattern is retraced along the plastic-flow curve in the materials under investigation. The kinetics of the plastic-flow localization development at the prefailure stage is discussed.
